Marathon is one of my favourite places to explore along the North Shore of Lake Superior; the landscapes have a windswept appearance and have inspired generations of artists including the Group of Seven. Their work in the area was the spark that ignited the Group of Seven Lake Superior Trail, where this image was first captured by my friend Kirsten. She graciously allowed me to create a painting from her photograph and titled it "Cast in a Golden Light," which references a song from the Tragically Hip (making this an oh-so-Canadian artwork!).
